When schools opened in March 2021, a combined financial package from the Government of Lesotho, the GPE Emergency Grant administered through UNICEF and LBEIP ensured all schools could be covered with protective kits of soaps, sanitizers, disinfectants and facemasks for each school term opening throughout the year. The COVID-19 protective kits started delivery to 619 schools ahead of the second term opening in July 2021, along with instructional learning materials, Early Childhood Development (ECCD) literacy kits and readers that were sourced, printed and distributed throughout August to October 2021. A key focus for the project for the next three months will be on data collection and site visits towards assessment of the project development outcomes.
