KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The AF-1 is has met its development objectives and has to date disbursed over 99% the USD275 million. Disbursement of the USD30million AF-2 is yet to commence. The client reported implementation activities are on track for all components. Component 1) Increasing Access to Sanitation. 73,694 additional household toilets have been constructed under the Project (7% above the Project target), of which 36,731 under the additional financing. 589 Institutional WASH Facilities have been constructed under the project exceeding the target of 540. Under the AF the project has completed 183 institutional facilities in schools and healthcare facilities, exceeding the Project target. Component 2) Improvement and Expansion of the Water Distribution Network. The contract for the Performance Based Contract for Water Loss Reduction is ongoing but is experiencing delays. Following the completion of the water supply masterplan in the GKMA, the construction of water distribution pipelines are on track. Component 3) Planning, Improvement and Expansion of Environmental Sanitation Services. The cost estimates from the feasibility study for the rehabilitation of the Asafo Wastewater treatment plant went above the project budget. It was therefore agreed to seek an additional financing to deliver the critically needed work in Asafo. Component 4) Institutional Strengthening. This component supports project management and monitoring, institutional development activities and ongoing sector initiatives led by the capacity building team in the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources. The project has prepared several Knowledge and Learning Notes from the project that will help in scaling up the experience 5.
