KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The Project has maintained progress since the last mission held in June 2024. As of November 2024, the project has provided improved irrigation/drainage services to 9,190 hectares of farmland (83.5 percent of the end-of-project target) and directly benefited around 8,474 farmers (121 percent of the end-of-project target), including farmers with agricultural assets and services and those adopting improved farming practices and technology. All the ongoing civil works contracts are progressing satisfactorily and on track except CAD1 Lot 1. The PIO and Department are working closely with all ongoing contractors and their owners to accelerate the progress within this final dry season and complete the works by the time of project closure. The PIO monitors and thoroughly analyzes the progress and likelihood of contract completion of all ongoing contracts, develops the scenarios as part of the project closing plan, and informs the government on time for necessary remedy actions As the project is in its final year of completion, it needs to focus on further capacity building for the WUAs to fully assume MoM responsibilities and institutionalize the organization arrangement and resource management for sustainable MOM of the modernized canal system. 5.
