OBJECTIVE 1.1 Development Objective Original Development Objective (Approved as part of Decision package on 11-May-2021) The Project Development Objective is to improve the availability of and access to food and nutritious diets, both in the short and medium term, for targeted households in the Project Area, and to enhance Yemen's capacity to respond to food insecurity. Has the Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? No 2. COMPONENTS Name Improving household incomes through CFW for agricultural production infrastructure and building climate resilience:(Cost 38,000,000.00) Increasing production and sale of nutritious crop, livestock and fish products:(Cost 51,000,000.00) Improving the nutritional status of vulnerable rural households:(Cost 27,000,000.00) Capacity building for food security management and climate resilience:(Cost 21,650,000.00) Project management and knowledge management:(Cost 12,350,000.00) 3. KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The project's original financing of US$127 million was approved on May 11, 2021, and declared effective on August 06, 2021. The additional funding of US$150 million was approved on December 1, 2022, and declared effective on February 2, 2023. A Mid-Term Review Mission was conducted from September 8 to 15, 2024. At the mid-term the project has achieved significant results. It has operated in 59 most vulnerable districts (out of 333), and directly benefited more than 1 million people. Its indirect beneficiaries (e.g. household members with animals vaccinated, community members where infrastructure projects have been built etc.) could be as high or above 3.5 million people. Much of this progress stems from providing immediate, short-term support to address urgent needs, including nutritional assistance for vulnerable women and children (740,000+ beneficiaries), temporary labor opportunities for rural workers (21,000+ beneficiaries), distribution of seeds and agricultural inputs to smallholder farmers to sustain upcoming agricultural production (60,000+ beneficiaries), and short-term income opportunities for vulnerable women beneficiaries (7,500 beneficiaries) and others. To-date, the project supported vaccination (against PPR) and treatment of (parasitic diseases) more than 50 percent of small ruminant livestock population, benefiting more than 250,000 households. The project's contributions toward resilience and medium-term results needs to be strengthened. Complexities and challenges of sustaining outcomes in a fragile and insecure environment affect medium- to long-term outcomes. Nonetheless, the project’s design incorporates substantial adaptability and flexibility, allowing for modifications to focus on building resilience for beneficiaries. 5.
