KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The project is on track to meet its Project Development Objective (PDO) and has surpassed the targets of all the three PDO indicators. Among other activities, the project has (i) provided 9,150 hectares of new or improved irrigation services, (ii) reached 1,554 farmers with agriculture assets or services of which 602 women, (iii) reached 55,570 direct project beneficiaries of which 27,977 women, and (iv) provided 3,740 people with access to improved drinking water. The project has developed three irrigation schemes, namely in Mwomboshi, Musakashi, and Lusitu. In Mwomboshi, 5,500 hectares were equipped with irrigation of which 3,384 hectares are under production. In Musakashi, 1,028 hectares were equipped with irrigation of which 377 are under production.
