KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions Nov 25, 2024 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Sint Maarten Emergency Debris Management Project (P167347) There has been progress since the last Implementation Status Report with the launching of several activities and advancement on implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan. A weighbridge has been procured and will be installed towards the end of 2024, to support waste data collection and improve landfill management. The Municipal Solid Waste Disposal Sites Feasibility Study was awarded in June 2024, with the Inception Report finalized in August and other key deliverables expected between Q1 and Q2 2025. The tendering process for tire removal, development of the Waste Ordinance and Waste Authority Ordinance, and ThinkGreen Campaign will be initiated in the coming months. In terms of the resettlement activities, with the the Resettlement Area of Impact (RAI) vacated and all Project Affected People (PAPs) reallocated, with the exception of GEBE who is nearly vacated, RAI structure demolition is expected in Q1 2025. Feasible options are being pursued for the seven PAPs opting for permanent housing. Purchase of one property is underway. Meanwhile, eligible PAPs have received training on computer skills, basic finance, baking, English language, and professional development as part of the livelihood restoration services. The project is complemented by direct funding by the Netherlands for technical assistance to support preliminary steps for waste sector reforms, focusing on the planning and design of operationalization of sector reform actions. Key deliverables expected by December 2024 include a draft tipping fee implementation plan and environmental fee report. 5.
