KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The Project to Expand Education Opportunities for Learning (PRODA) has been making good progress to achieve its development objectives. Progress has occurred in all components. The Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFOP) continues to make concerted efforts to roll out its reform agenda, strengthening improvements in quality and learning. Key achievements supported by PRODA include: improving the performance of preschool and primary teachers thanks to individualized COACHING, enrolling a further 8,984 out-of-school children in school in 2023-24, decreasing repetition rate from 24.5 to less than 5 percent improving gender parity of enrollment in lower basic school from an index of 0.82 to 0.86, reforming the evaluation system and improving the percentage of children who score above a competency threshold from 64 percent to 67 percent in french and from 31 percent to 35 percent in maths, supporting the development of a new Education Management Information System (EMIS). Priorities for the next 6 months include: continuing to improve school standards, sustaining the implementation of the TEACH/COACH program, continuing the push to enroll more students, especially girls, refugees and children with special needs in school, further improving learning levels in french and placing a renewed focus on maths learning, putting renewed focus on equipping teachers and students with the skills they need to use ICT and engage in distance learning, adding refugee and private schools to the EMIS. 5.
