KEY ISSUES & STATUS Nov 19, 2024 Page 1 of 12 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Primary Education Quality Improvement Project (P181063) 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions This is the second Implementation Status and Results Report (ISR) in the series and the first following Project effectiveness on May 24, 2024 for the Primary Education Quality Improvement Project (PEQIP). The key project staff, including the coordinator, procurement specialist and the financial management specialist are now in place, as well as the coordinator's assistant. Recruitment for the remaining project team members is ongoing and is expected to be completed by mid-December 2024. The implementation of the initial project activities is anticipated to accelerate in the coming months, following the recruitment of key technical specialists and the preparation of initial tender bids, including the procurement of textbooks for 5th and 6th grades in mathematics, French, and science, as well as initial bids for construction works aimed at constructing or rehabilitating the equivalent of 70 schools. 5.
