KEY ISSUES & STATUS Sep 24, 2024 Page 1 of 10 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report CAR Accelerating Results in Education (P502128) 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The CAR Accelerating Results in Education was approved by the World Bank’s (WB) Board of Executive Directors on June 18, 2024 signed by the WB and the Government of the Central African Republic on September 17, 2024, and is expected to close on 31 Oct 2030. It is jointly financed by the International Development Association (IDA) and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). The Project is expected to become effective by its deadline of December 17, 2024. The Project aims to address some of the most critical challenges to improve access to quality basic education and strengthen capacity for sector management in CAR. It focuses on activities that support and strengthen teacher-learner interaction in the classroom, and improve the overall teaching and learning environment in classrooms. Finally, in alignment with the Ministry of Education's priorities, the Project aims to be inclusive across several key dimensions, including in the design and construction of climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable school infrastructure, taking into account the needs of students with disabilities. It also focuses on promoting girl’s retention and completion of the basic education cycle. The Project is expected to achieve its development objective through four components: Component 1: Increase access to improved learning environments; Component 2: Improve teaching quality ; Component 3: Strengthen data system and sector management; and Component 4: Contingency Emergency Response Component (CERC). 5.
