KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The Greater Abidjan Port - City Integration Project was approved by the World Bank Board on June 29, 2018. The credit is effective since December 6, 2018. The project has 3 components and is progressing towards the Project Development Objectives. All activities are expected to be completed by the project closing date. The project will benefit more than 5.4 million people in the Greater Abidjan. The first component on Urban Planning, Services and Governance is well underway. The partnership between the French Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC) and INP-HB in Yamoussoukro with a master’s degree program in Transport Planning delivered by the ENPC at the INP-HB is still going strong. The 5th cohort was recruited in January 2024. The Addressing of roads and buildings in Abidjan is ongoing, with the related database completed and the address plates installation launched in June 2024. Studies for the development of Detailed Urban Plans (PUd) in Abidjan are on track to be completed by end 2024 after extensive consultations with concerned stakeholders. The contractor is fully mobilized for the lagoon passenger transport stations rehabilitation and works are under implementation. Under the second component related to Urban Transport Infrastructure, all the works (Akwaba roundabout, 10km of urban roads in the Abidjan port area, sections 2 and 3 of the Y4 expressway) are progressing well. Port roads are completed (except one) and the Akwaba roundabout will be completed by end 2024. Sections 2 and 3 of the Y4 expressway are expected to be completed by mid-2025. Activities under the third component on Logistics Services and Competitiveness are moving forward, including the development of a digital truck traffic management system in the Port area (bidding process being relaunched), as well as the development of a national logistics plan and of a lagoon freight transport strategy that are almost completed. 5.
