KEY ISSUES & STATUS Jun 27, 2024 Page 1 of 11 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Management Strengthening Project (P172980) 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The Project seeks to improve the management of coastal and marine ecosystems in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, through more robust and consistent enforcement of policies, data-driven solutions and spatial planning, and sustainable and participatory conservation and protection. The implementing agency Sustainable Development Unit has established the Project Implementation Unit, which has recruited a project coordinator and knowledge management specialist and is in the process of recruiting additional individual consultants. The project is also in the process of recruiting two firm consultancies under Component 1 and Component 2 to support institutional strengthening and pilot activities. The Technical Advisory Group has been providing support through information sharing and improving coordination among stakeholders for Project implementation. The procurement of the consulting service under component 1 is underway to undertake a technical study for institutional and legal analysis, development institutional framework and prepare long- term investment and revenue generation strategy. A consulting firm for component 2 is expected to be hired soon to undertake site assessment, stakeholder mapping and management plan development. The project has developed TORs for various components and activities. It is still at too early a stage to report on progress made on achieving the project development objective. 5.
