KEY ISSUES & STATUS Jun 27, 2024 Page 1 of 9 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Sudan Family Support Project (P173521) 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The project was originally planned to be implemented over 50 months, but it was only active for eight months due to conflict and OP 7.30 “Dealings with De Facto Governments”. During this time, the Sudan Family Support Project (SFSP) provided direct cash transfers to around 8.7 million people, nearly 80 percent of the original project's target of 11.3 million. The SFSP aimed to provide cash transfers to Sudanese people in two phases. The first phase targeted 11.3 million beneficiaries, representing 80 percent of the total population in the four Khartoum, Kassala, Red Sea, and South Darfur states. Similarly, 1.5 million families received SFSP payments, achieving 80 percent of the target. These achievements were made in just eight months before the project paused on October 25, 2021. With additional financing for the second phase approved on March 16, 2021, and the closing date extension to June 30, 2023, the project's target indicator was adjusted to 24.7 million beneficiaries. Assessing the progress made against the expanded SFSP target of 24.7 million beneficiaries by June 2023, the project's achievement of 8.7 million people represents about 35 percent of the expanded target. However, the SFSP second phase implementation was not launched due to the October 25, 2021 military takeover that triggered OP 7.30. The project will be closing on June 30, 2024. 5.
