Component 1: Comprehensive support was provided to key National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) institutions — the Institute of Ethiopian Standards (IES), Ethiopian Accreditation Service (EAS), Ethiopian Metrology Institute (EMI), and Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise (ECAE). Major accomplishments include the establishment of training facilities, development of standards, participation in international forums, procurement of ICT and laboratory equipment, and the expansion of accreditation and testing capabilities. Installation of equipment in the new EMI building has been completed, following delays related to construction. Component 2: Technical assistance and training were successfully delivered to industries, private labs, inspection and certification bodies, and sectoral institutes across Ethiopia. Beneficiaries reported that the support was impactful, enabling them to achieve certifications and improve service quality, thereby supporting business growth and enhancing local quality assurance capacity. Component 3: The Project Implementation Unit (PIU) was fully operational throughout the project.
