KEY ISSUES & STATUS Jun 22, 2024 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report CAR Emergency Electricity Supply and Access Project (P164885) 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The PURACEL project has resiliently overcome challenges and successfully commissioned the 25 MWp solar PV plant with a 25 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) located at Danzi, in November 2023. A four month extension was granted in February 2024, extending the project closing date from the 27th of February 2024 to the 28th of June 2024. This, to ensure two remaining important activities accounting for a total of just under USD 2.4 million be completed in time. These two activities consisted of: i) the delivery and installation of a SCADA system, which was succesfully delivered and installed and is now under the supervision of the national electricity utility company; and, ii) the delivery of transmission and distribution assets, which have been delivered to Bangui and who’s installation will be supported through the CAR- Electricity Sector Strengthening and Access (PARSE - P176683) project. Today, the project's implementation can be considered completed; with the two remaining activities achieved and disbursement at around 99%. It is expected that the large majority of the remaining USD 1.22 million will be disbursed no later than the end of the grace period following the delivery of the remaining materials as final payments for works done, which will be installed under the PARSE project. 5.
