KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions Overview. This is the second operation within the Regional Climate Resilience Program for Eastern and Southern Africa (RCRP) Series of Projects (SOP), and it aims to improve Malawi’s resilience to water-related climate shocks. The RCRP is a 10-year regional SOP that seeks to address common climate resilience challenges amongst countries in the Region through a programmatic framework that will allow scalability (countries can join at different times) and economies of scale (regional knowledge sharing and collaboration). The first operation under the series was approved in May 2023 (P180171). RCRP-1 includes four countries (Mozambique, South Sudan, Madagascar, and Comoros) and two regional organizations (the Eastern Nile Technical Regional Committee (ENTRO), and the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC). The second operation (RCRP-2) includes Malawi and the AU and was approved by the Executive Board of the World Bank on December 20, 2023 and the project became effective on May 6, 2024. The AU financing was signed on March 1, 2024, and became effective on March 21, 2024. Implementation activities are progressing. 5.
