KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions There has been important progress in the project during the reporting period, including but not limited to: (i) a pilot to monitor teacher absenteeism has been carried out; (ii) preparations for upgrading schools in the three regions of the country are underway with constructions planned to commence by end of August 2024; and (iv) training of grade 8 teachers in selected subjects (physics and chemistry) of the revised curriculum being introduced in the 2024 school year. Additionally, progress has been made on the implementation of the National Learning Assessment in Primary Education and the Regional Learning Assessment in grade 6 (SEACMEQ) and both results are expected in the second semester of 2024. The World Bank is in discussions with the government and Global Partnership for Education on some revisions to the project design to ensure it can achieve its development objectives. 5.
