KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The project supports 30 Africa Centers of Excellence (ACEs) in 8 countries. Activities for six of the eight countries (Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia) closed on December 31, 2023. 6 ACEs in Mozambique and Malawi focusing on agriculture received Additional Financing in 2022 and are expected to complete implementation by December 31, 2025. The project is performing well on all five key performance indicators (regional and national student enrolment, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on partnerships, accreditation of programs, and direct project beneficiaries), with all achieving or exceeding end-of-project targets. It is recommended that all the ACEs should carefully review their procurement plans and where possible in consultation with the Bank task team revise procurement packages which may not be implementable within the remaining period. The ACEs should expedite action on all the remaining activities so that they are delivered by the project closing date. 5.
