OBJECTIVE 1.1 Development Objective Original Development Objective (Approved as part of Approval package on 01-Jun-2022) The Development Objective of the Series of Projects is to strengthen the shared management of selected Pacific Island oceanic and coastal fisheries, and the critical habitats upon which they depend. For the Solomon Islands second phase’s project (“SB PROPER”), the proposed Project Development Objective (PDO) is to strengthen regional collaboration and national capacity for the management and the sustainable development of the oceanic and coastal fisheries sector in the Solomon Islands. Has the Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? No 2. KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions Since the previous mission in June, implementation progress has continued to be varied across project components. Progress towards the project development objectives is tracking well, particularly activities such as provincial fisheries ordinances, fish aggregating devices (FAD) deployment, community fisheries management plans (CFMPs), electronic port (ePort), and electronic monitoring (EM) policy preparation. Infrastructure works and activities remain delayed, with no room for further slippages for the construction of the Auki Fisheries Office, with an eye towards Project closure. Construction of the Noro monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) Center building remains slow with discussions ongoing to determine timelines. The MFMR institutional review continues to be delayed and is integral to the Project to complete and for aligning government priorities. The primary focus remains on advancing infrastructure and finalizing the institutional review and keeping sound financial management. 5.
