KEY ISSUES & STATUS Jan 28, 2025 Page 1 of 10 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Tajikistan Preparedness and Resilience to Disasters Project (P177779) 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The project is in its third year of implementation and continues to contribute to Tajikistan's preparedness and resilience to disasters. The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has finalized the design for the two bridges in Rudaki and Vose districts, with the works tendering is expected to commence soon. MoT has also initiated feasibility and designs for the Muminabad district road sections damaged by 2021 floods, as well as the Labijar-Karamyk road section. All the envisioned interventions under the transport component are to be built resiliently, introducing new approaches that can be scaled up across the country. The Ministry of Finance (MoF) is advancing the Regional Crises Management Centers’ Designs, while also finalizing the bidding documents for procurement of Mobile Command and Communication Vehicles (MCCV), for the benefit of the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CoESCD). In turn, CoESCD has commenced the studies for the Water Diving Center and the K-9 Center within the territory of the Karatag Rescuer Training Center. CoESCD is also continuing to actively use the “SOS” Mobile Application, aimed at keeping the public informed about emergencies, emergency protocols, guidance, alerts, and other publicly important information meantime. CoESCD has finalized the rehabilitation of the classrooms in its Hissar Anti-Hail Department, and rolled out the. Seismic hazard monitoring equipment was procured by MoF for the Institute of Geology, Earthquake Engineering and Seismology, albeit the list of priority structures for their installation is still yet to be confirmed. Appropriate capacity building activities for the benefit of the Institute and the Committee of Architecture and Construction are under discussions with the MoF. Support for the implementation of priority areas of the “National Strategy for Financial Protection against Disasters until 2037” is continuing. 5.
