KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions 1. Overall, the team assessed progress towards achievement of project development objective (PDO) as Satisfactory. Specifically, the adoption of improved inputs and technologies has resulted in an increase in yield across crops varieties with rice recording average yield of 2.76mt/ha against a target of 2.4mt/ha, maize yield is reported at 2.84mt/ha against a target of 2.2mt/ha, onion yield is 16.3mt/ha against a target of 7mt/ha, live weight of broilers (feed efficiency) is 2.6kg as against a target of 1.6kg and HDEP is 95% as against a target of 75%. In addition, the project supported improved planting materials for rice, maize, onion, cocoa and oil palm for a cumulative area of 88,663.20 hectares leading to 171 percentage point achievement of the project target. The project is advancing with the construction of four (4) long-span bridges (with a total crossing length of 626 meters) to replace the unsafe and unmotorized cable ferries across major rivers in the country. Once completed, these bridges will linkup regions and districts through the shortest routes and hence unlock communities that were otherwise cut-off from the road network and facilitate internal and regional trade and commerce. 5.
