KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The project is progressing well with all civile works completed except the market budling. Most of the infrastructure including road and drainage improvement works, walkways, footbridges, bus terminal and bus stops are either completed or are on schedule. However, the market building still requires some works and expected to be finished by March 30, 2025. TThe operationalization of the Sierra Leone Public Transport Authority (SLPTA) as a regulatory entity, along with the establishment of a private bus operating company, has marked the culmination of the institutional reform planned under the project. These reforms have resulted in the initiation of a formalized public transport service in Sierra Leone. The bus terminal was officially commissioned on November 27, 2024, by the President of the Republic. The terminal is designed to accommodate all modes of public transport, including ke-ke, poda-poda, and Okada, each having a dedicated platform for operation. Currently, Waka Fine operates from the terminal, transporting an average of 21,000 passengers per day. The commencement of bus operations as of February 2, 2024, and improvements of the road infrastructure, pedestrian footbridges, drainage, and road safety facilities help improve mobility and road safety along the project corridors. 5.
