OBJECTIVE 1.1 Development Objective Original Development Objective (Approved as part of Approval package on 24-Apr-2015) To support clean power generation and to improve operational efficiency of Morocco's national power utility. Has the Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? Yes Current Development Objective (Approved as part of Restructuring package Seq. 1 on 17-Sep-2019) To support clean power generation and to improve operational efficiency of Morocco's national power utility. 2. COMPONENTS Name Component 1: Support to ONEE's Solar PV Program:(Cost 108,063,720.00) Component 2: Planning and Dispatching of Renewable Energies:(Cost 8,140,000.00) Component 3: Utility Demand-side Management and Revenue Protection Program:(Cost 13,746,280.00) Component 4: Technical Assistance:(Cost 4,000,000.00) 3. KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The project implementation progress and progress towards achieving the Project Development Objectives remain moderately satisfactory. Component 1: Support to Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Program The construction of the three PV plants in Southeastern Morocco has been completed, with a total installed capacity of 120 MW. These plants have been successfully commissioned and connected to the national power grid. They are generating 222 GWh of energy per year, providing electricity to 272,000 beneficiaries. Component 2: Planning and Dispatching of Renewable Energies The revamped national dispatch center is now completed and operational. Component 3: Demand Side Management and Revenue Protection Program The Revenue Protection Program is progressing slowly. Approximately 50,000 households are now equipped with bi-hourly meters. All High Voltage/Medium Voltage meters have been acquired and are at an advanced stage of deployment. The implementation of this activity is expected to be completed by June 2024. 5.
