KEY ISSUES & STATUS Jan 01, 2025 Page 1 of 9 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Tajikistan Socio-Economic Resilience Strengthening Project (P168052) 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The SERSP approved in June 2019 with an IDA grant of US$37 million, supports the Government of Tajikistan’s efforts to build resilience in communities in two regions (Khatlon and GBAO) that share borders with Afghanistan. It targets five districts in the Khatlon region and four districts in the GBAO region, including 55 sub-districts, relatively large populations, a combination of rural and urban areas, and limited coverage by other donor interventions. Based on the Government request, the project was later restructured in 2023, and project’s closing date was extended by 18 months from June 30, 2024, to December 31, 2025. The project is on track to achieve most of its activities and results indicators. Since the May 2024 mission, the project has made progress in implementing most subcomponents, meeting intermediate results indicators, and accelerating disbursements. Implementation of the subprojects (SPs) has accelerated, with an additional 50 SPs from the original districts completed (for a total of 153 completed SPs out of 193). The remaining 40 SPs in the original districts are under implementation. Other donors have supported more than 50 SPs that communities identified in village and jamoat development plans, but were not selected for SERSP funding. 5.
