The Flood Risk Management and Drainage Masterplan is at the inception stage and the first pool of long-term investment sites are being identified. A technical working group is in place to supervise the proper implementation of the Drainage Masterplan and of the preparation and implementation of the investments that will emerge from this masterplan. The Solid Waste Management Masterplan was also launched in early June and the kick-off workshop is due to be held in early-December. PIU capacity is improving via hiring four additional key staff and the ongoing recruitment of four additional experts in line with capacity gaps identified during previous missions. Project implementation and disbursement are expected to pick-up further in FY18. This will be due to (i) the implementation completion of the 4-ongoing priority works early November 2017, (ii) kick-starting the implementation of the 13 priority works in February 2018; (iii) rehabilitation of Eleyele Dam expected to start in February 2018 (iv) the commencement of the first batch of long term investment works resulting from the Flood Risk Management and Drainage Masterplan in May/June 2018; (v) implementation process of the Solid Waste Management Masterplan and completion of the Physical Masterplan; and (vi) the kick-off of the design for the Early Warning and Response Systems.
