The objectives of the Project are to: (a) increase the attractiveness of the cultural heritage sites in North of Haiti for tourists; (b) improve the living environment for the
residents living in North of Haiti; and (c) support the Recipient’s capacity to respond promptly and effectively to an Eligible Emergency, as needed.

The project has been approved on May 19 and signed on July 7, 2004 with an estimated effectiveness date by October 7, 2014. In the mean time, under a Project Preparation
Advance, the Project teams including the dedicated ISPAN-PAST team are carrying preparatory activities to define the first set of rehabilitation works in the National History Park and
in the historic center of Cap Haitien. Communal Concertation Tables have been established to define investments programs in Dondon, Milot and Cap Haitien and bidding processes
for technical assistance activities for the tourism sector organizations will be launched end of August.
