A satisfactory compromise was reached as an alternative to dredging Longzi Lake without compromising the flood security standard. Partial Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Report No: ISR4025 improvements in wastewater management have been achieved with completion of wastewater collection networks in Bengbu City, Huaishang District, and the three counties of Wuhe, Huaiyuan and Guzhen, and transfer of wastewater from Huaiyuan to the Huaishang wastewater treatment plant. Most Capacity building activities are being implemented, with good progress made in the last year to select consultants for five out of the eight technical assistance packages. Public Disclosure Copy Preparation of feasibility study reports, environmental assessment and resettlement action plans have been completed for the additional work agreed for financing using the anticipated US$ 17 million in loan savings. The proposal is to finance two of the four arterial roads in the block under development adjacent to the new high speed rail station, which is projected to bring significant economic benefits and development, and improve Bengbu’s competitiveness to attract investors. All physical works and capacity building components are expected to be completed by the original loan closing date, thus assuring achievement of the project development objectives as planned. Key Decisions for Disclosure The borrower should also submit a request to restructure the project, the goal being to utilize the US$17 million in savings for the works adjacent to the new high speed rail station.
