Implementing NGOs were able to mobilize and organize farmers, procure, deliver and distribute agricultural inputs to farmers and conduct training field visits and supervision in the relatively secure enclaves (Terekeka/Tali County in Central Equatoria State, Nagero County in Western Equatoria State, Jur River County in Western Bahr el Ghazal State, and Aweil South County in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State) where the project operates. To date, the project has reached over 292,587 farmers with improved crop production, postharvest management and processing technologies (against an end of project target of 229800); and 45,115 vulnerable persons with cash transfers in exchange for construction of grain storage facilities (both community and household level stores) with a current capacity of 7,038 metric tons (against a target of 8700 tons), repairing roads and bridges and construction of solid waste management facilities and latrines in public markets. A total of 58,680 persons have benefited from unconditional food transfers provided through the World Food Program (against an initial target of 138000 households). Through project support for labor saving (especially in the form of ox/donkey ploughs and a tractor revolving fund) associated with cropping operations, approximately 37,393 hectares of fallow and formerly idle land have been re-opened and cropped to several staple food crops. This represents more than 200 percent of the project target. Over 113,266 farmers have adopted new practices and initiatives for postharvest handling and management (against a target of 85,000 farmers). Apart from the target set for the number of vulnerable persons benefiting from unconditional food or cash transfers, all other PDO level targets have either already been met or are on track to being met. All the trust funds are fully disbursed while disbursement from the IDA credit now stands at 95 percent (US$8.55 million) and the balance of US$0.16 million is committed to ongoing contracts.
