Since the last ISR, implementation progress of the Project has been mixed. In rural areas (Extreme North, North, East and Adamaoua) the activities of hygiene promotion, construction of household and institutional latrines, and construction of boreholes are on track to achieve the Project's targets. Additional investments are being considered to scale-up the construction of latrines and boreholes by the project closing date in March 2017. In urban areas (City of Douala), the construction of household and institutional latrines are facing implementation delays. Corrective measures are being taken by the Project to address those issues however the initial objectives of the project may not be achieved. The construction of the sludge treatment plants will not be financed by the Project due to delayed finalization of the bidding document, but an alternative funding option is being considered for the financing of those investments. Additional investments are being considered to finance the construction of boreholes or the connection to the CDE networks in the schools impacted by the project's interventions but not benefiting from a safe water supply The project will be restructured to reflect the change in the scope of the operation and in the result framework, and to cancel funds.
