The first steering committee meeting took place on the 17th of August, and the first technical committee meeting of component 2 on the technical training system and increasing technical skills took place on the 24th of August 2021. The preparation of program activities of component 1 was slowed down in May and June 2021. Following the elections and the new government’s nomination, the Government gave new orientations to component 1. The new component 1 strategy and planification have been reviewed in order to reach 25,000 beneficiaries for the wage employment pathways (as opposed to 6,000 originally planned) and 6,000 beneficiaries for the self- employment pathways (as opposed to 25,000 originally planned) before the end of the project. 9/13/2021 Page 1 of 10 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Benin Youth Inclusion Project (P170425) Component 2 supports the new technical and vocational strategy and aims to follow national systems as defined in the strategy (especially regarding the choice of trades to be supported / prioritized, the development of curricula, etc…). Progress has been made, albeit slower than anticipated, and the report prioritizing the trades is in the final stage of review. The partnership and communication between all institutional actors have improved over the last six months. MoU with mains actors under component 2 should be signed before the end of September 2021.
