To-date, the Project has made significant progress in helping participating IPLCs gain stronger recognition of tenure rights, with varying levels of recognition (e.g. decree and regional regulation, with 14 IPLCs groups having submitted evidence to the government). Out of 49 existing subprojects that are currently under implementation by the IPLCs (selected through two earlier calls for proposal), 11 subprojects have successfully completed their activities and the remaining 38 are on track for achieving their intended objectives. The selection process of the third and last Call for Proposal has been completed and the contract signing for the 14 selected subprojects concluded in January 2021, with strong emphasis on livelihoods activities. At the same time, the project has incurred accumulated delays in completing subproject activities, particularly for the IPLCs groups to receive tenure recognition, due to the continued impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated restrictions. As a result, on March 9, 2021 the National Executing Agency submitted a request for restructuring to extend the Project closing date and ensure the successful completion 6/7/2021 Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Strengthening Rights and Economies of Adat and Local Communities (P156473) of planned activities towards achievement of the PDO. The proposed restructuring was approved by the World Bank on May 28, 2021, granting a 17-month extension of the closing date from June 30, 2021 to November 30, 2022.
