Overall, implementation progress is accelerating and noticeable compared to previous implementation review mission in May/June 2019. It is noted that: (i) though behind initial schedules, all five ongoing major road contracts from Loichangamatak to Nadapal/Nakodok (328km) that were already awarded are progressing noticeably and are at different stages of implementation ranging from; 35 to 59 percent completion rate. 2. The construction of the bridge at Kainuk is virtually completed except for the approach roads. 3. A civil society organization (CSO) selected by KeNHA, Catholic Diocese of Lodwar, has been engaged to assist KeNHA in the management of Gender Based Violence (GBV) cases. 4. The needs assessment for the provision of social infrastructures and services to support the host communities in the project area has been completed and a prioritized list of activities recommended awaiting validation by the County Government of Turkana. 6. Bids have been invited for the procurement of a 600km fiber optic cable from Eldoret to Nadapal/Nakodok with a submission deadline of January 7, 2020 while KeNHA plans to invite bids for undertaking the associated civil works by end of January 2010. 7. GoK has completed the emergency repairs on the Lesseru-Kitale-Lokichar road section (216km) as part of counterpart funding which has reduced travel time and fare by 50 percent between Kitale and Lodwar. 8. Overall, 91 percent of the credit proceeds is committed, and the balance is expected to be committed in the next six months.
