Implementation Status and Key Decisions
Project activities in all components of the project are ongoing. The inventory of obsolete pesticides, which had been delayed for much of 2018,
recommenced fully on September 3, 2018. In addition to the inventory, activities are underway in all other components of the project, principally
those involving communications, training, and strengthening of key institutions. Preparations are underway for the storage of obsolete pesticides
(selection of a site and carrying out of appropriate safeguards studies). A mid-term review mission of the World Bank will begin on November 12,
2018.

The indicators involving amounts of obsolete pesticides remain undefined as baselines and targets depend on
the final results of the inventory, that will be completed only in December 2018. Early in 2019 these values will
be updated, if needed and it will be possible to start providing actual indicator values (amounts stored and
disposed are currently still zero but this will change quickly in 2019). The methodology for measuring
beneficiary numbers is described in the M&E Manual but the MTR will revisit this subject to ensure a good
methodology is in place.

By the end of the first half of 2018, progress had been on implementing the inventory (giving a result of 2
on the scale of 0 to 3), although it was termporarily suspended at that time because of logistical problems

Work on Component 3 has been delayed until 2019, due to the urgency of concentrating efforts on the
