Implementation Status and Key Decisions
Project implementation has improved with a number of corrective actions implemented by ZESCO including closer supervision of the contractors by the
PIU resulting in adequate resources being provided by the contractors (new project manager, additional equipment and manpower) and allowing longer
line shutdowns for the stringing works.
However, despite the achieved and promising progress on the transmission lines works, implementation of works for substations (Kafue Town Muzuma
substation and Livingston substation) is expected to be completed only in September 2017, i.e. beyond the current closing date of June 30, 2017. The
Government has therefore submitted a request to extend the closing date to December 2017 to allow the completion of works. The request is currently
being considered.
