Project Development Objective (from Project Appraisal Document)
The objective of the Health and Population Project (HPP) is to improve access to and utilization of a package of maternal, neonatal, and child health services in selected
governorates with a high concentration of districts with poor health indicators. The Projectwill contribute to the goal of achieving of MDGs 4 (decrease in child mortality)
& 5 (improvements in maternal health).

Implementation Status Overview
Implementation Progress and Plan To-Date: The Bank supported the second round of the national polio campaign which took place from January 27-29, 2013, in Sana'a, Ibb, Al
Dalaee, Rehima, Al Mahaweet, and Aden governorates (campaigns in other governorates are funded by the Government of Yemen, WHO and UNICEF). Nationwide, the campaign
immunized 4,448,109 children out of 4,591,620 representing an overall coverage of 97%. Under the project, the campaign immunized 1,177,905 out of 1,211,332 representing
coverage of 97%.

Outreach rounds are planned to start in July 2013, and accordingly the results of these rounds will be reflected in the results matrix at that time.
