The project continues to make good progress towards achieving targets on provision of access to improved water sources (1.47 million people against a target of 1.78 million) and improved sanitation facilities (1.26 million people, against an end target of 1.4 million people). 2. A little more than 50% of the households have private water connections, up several times relative to the baseline figure of 8%. 3. Government of Karnataka has reformed the institutional setup for RWSS sector. A new department of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation has been set up with effective from April 1, 2014.
