The final review of the Project conducted on August 30 to September 10, 2021, noted that the Project made notable progress and is currently on course to substantially achieving its targets by the closing date. As such, the key achievements under the Trade components include (a) substantial completion of the Inland Container Depot (ICD) Kathmandu and the taking over by the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board (NITDB); (b) completion of the ICD Bhairahawa Pavement works, and ICD Birgunj railway shed; (c) completion of the Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary (SPS) building in Kathmandu; (d) completion of the Nepal Trade Information Portal (NTIP); and (e) soft launch of the Nepal National Single Window (NNSW). There are few remaining activities such as, the NNSW under the Trade component, is expected to complete only Phase 1 out of 3 phases by the Project closing date. Similarly, part of the last contract for the valley side slope stabilization works at km 17, and 26 of N-M road is likely to spill over beyond the Project closing date due to the pandemic and subsequently, monsoon rains. The Government of Nepal has committed to provide adequate funds from its own resources to complete outstanding activities after the project closing date.
