The World Bank and Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Trade and Industry launched the first cohort of SMEs that have been admitted to the SME Technical Assistance (TA) Facility - a new business hub, designed to increase the competitiveness and growth of local agro-processing companies. Major milestones achieved by component: Component 1: Promote enabling environment for expansion, and growth of agribusiness firms.  Completed Investor Perception Survey to generate a solid evidence base that would understand the factors that influence the investment decisions;  Completed an inception report to validate and improve the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (EIA) processes towards sustained agricultural investments;  Completed a Diagnostic Study of the National Quality Infrastructure to support compliance of Agribusiness SMEs to standards and quality requirements as well as access to both domestic and export markets; 12/23/2020 Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Sierra Leone Agro-Processing Competitiveness Project (P160295)  Provided technical assistance to the Phytosanitary unit to improve on processes and procedures to enable agribusinesses export to International markets. Component 2: Promote enabling environment for expansion, and growth of agribusiness firms  Developed and adopted SME TA cohort roadmap and strategy;  Admitted First cohort of 25 SMEs to the TA Facility;  Conducted a Business Pulse Survey to assess COVID-19 impact, risks and possible mitigation on the first cohort of 25 SMEs;  Conducted a SME deep dive to diagnose key constraints and opportunities of the select SMEs; and  Designed and disbursed emergency grant in response to the COVID 19 pandemic.
