It is only a year later in July 2017, that implementation resumed, after contracting the remaining activities to the FAO. The progress report from FAO is expected at the end of November, 2017. Prior to the conflict in July, 2016, the project had reached farmers in 12 counties (Morobo, Yambio, Tonj North, Leer, Pochalla, Panyikang, Raja, Maban, Terekeka, Jur River, Aweil South and Nagero) spread across six States with agricultural inputs, improved technologies, advisory services and equipment for ploughing. A total of 272,620 farmers had been reported to have adopted improved technologies for food production through project support. In addition, a total of 11,092 metric tons of cereal grain storage capacity had been created through project support to construction of household-level granaries and community storage facilities (warehouses). The number of farmers adopting new practices and initiatives for post-harvest handling and management stood at 125,211. The number of vulnerable households benefiting from unconditional food support (food aid) stands at 58,680 and these accrue primarily from the contract that was issued by the Government to the World Food Program. The number of people who have thus far participated in project-supported cash for work activities is 47,595, sixty-nine percent of whom are youth. Given the insecurity in the country and the ensuing internal displacements, it is highly likely that some of this progress registered by the project has been rolled back. For example it is likely that farmers who had adopted the improved technologies that are promoted by the project can no longer practice such technologies because they have been displaced. In addition, storage facilities(granaries and warehouses) that had been built with project support could have been destroyed during the conflict.
