Reforestation activities, which will lead to improved forest cover, increased carbon sequestration and more livelihood opportunities, have started in both states. Capacity building and training on biodiversity monitoring protocols and carbon measurements have been organized to improve biodiversity monitoring and eventual biodiversity management. Livelihood support activities have started and will increasingly focus on non-timber forest produce (NTFPs) to help improve participant livelihoods. These surveys will enable the assessment of socio-economic benefits provided by the project. Scaling up of Sustainable Land and Ecosystem Management (SLEM) best practices have been initiated in the field. Approved Annual Plan of Operations are now under implementation. Overall, implementation pace of the project has improved.
