Mr. Wolfowitz briefed the Executive Directors on Uzbekistan. Bangladesh ­ Country Assistance Strategy 4. The Executive Directors discussed the joint IDA/IFC Country Assistance Strategy for the People' s Republic of Bangladesh (IDA/R2006-0017[IFC/R2006-0024], dated March 7, 2006). In the context of the discussion of the Interim Strategy Note for Kosovo, Ms. Orsalia Kalantzopoulos, Country Director for Kosovo, briefed the Executive Directors on the Western Balkans. Mr. James Adams, Vice President, Operations Policy and Country Services, briefed the Executive Directors on the Global Program on Avian Influenza Control and Human Pandemic Preparedness and Response. Adaptable Program Lending (Credit) to Nigeria ­ Avian Influenza Control and Human Pandemic Preparedness and Response Project 8. The Executive Directors considered the President's Memorandum and Recommendation (IDA/R2006-0019, dated March 17, 2006) and approved the Adaptable Program Lending (credit) to the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the Avian Influenza Control and Human Pandemic Preparedness and Response Project in the amount of SDR 34.9 million (US$50 million equivalent) on the payment terms and other terms and conditions set out in the President's Memorandum. The credit is the second in a series of country specific projects to be financed under the six year, US$500 million Global Program for Avian Influenza Control and Human Pandemic Preparedness and Response (GPAI) Framework, and is a horizontal adaptable program loan. Oral Briefing on Nigeria 9. Mr. Havez Ghanem, Country Director, briefed the Executive Directors on the current situation in Nigeria. Loan to Jamaica ­ Inner City Basic Services for the Poor Project 10. The Executive Directors considered the President's Memorandum and Recommendation and approved the loan to Jamaica for the Inner City Basic Services for the Poor Project in the amount of US$29.3 million on the payment terms and other terms and conditions set out in the President's Memorandum (R2006-0040, dated March 13, 2006). Grant from the GEF Trust Fund to the World Fish Center, International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas, African Centre for Technology Studies, and Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture ­ International Assessment of Agricultural Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD) Project 11. The Executive Directors approved a grant from the Global Environment Facility Trust Fund to the World Fish Center, International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas, African Centre for Technology Studies, and Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture in the amount of US$3 million for the International Assessment of Agricultural Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD) Project on the terms and conditions set out in the President's Memorandum (GEF/R2006-0008, dated March 15, 2006). Grant from the GEF Trust Fund to Gabon ­ Strengthening Capacity for Managing National Parks and Biodiversity Project 12. The Executive Directors approved a grant from the Global Environment Facility Trust Fund to the Gabonese Republic for the Strengthening Capacity for Managing National Parks and Biodiversity Project in the amounts of US$10 million on the terms and conditions set out in the President's Memorandum (GEF/R2006-0006, dated March 15, 2006). The Executive Directors approved the Second Poverty Reduction Support Credit to the Republic of Senegal in the amount of SDR 20.8 million (US$30 million equivalent) on the payment terms and terms and conditions set out in the President's Memorandum (IDA/R2006-0035, dated March 7, 2006). Grant from the GEF Trust Fund and Credit to Armenia ­ Renewable Energy Project 14. The Executive Directors approved the grant from the Global Environment Facility Trust Fund, along with a credit to the Republic of Armenia for the Renewable Energy Project in the amounts of US$3 million and SDR 3.5 million (US$5 million equivalent), respectively, on the payment terms and other terms and conditions set out in the President's Memorandum (GEF/R2006-0005[IDA/R2006-0038], dated March 13, 2006). Grant to the Kyrgyz Republic ­ Water Management Improvement Project 15. The Executive Directors approved a grant to the Kyrgyz Republic for the Water Management Improvement Project in the amount of SDR 13.2 million (US$19 million equivalent) on the terms and conditions set out in the President's Memorandum (IDA/R2006-0037, dated March 13, 2006). Grant from the GEF Trust Fund to the Fundacion Fondo De Apoyo A La Biodiversidad Y Las Areas Protegidas (FUNBAP) ­ Colombian National Protected Areas Conservation Trust Fund Project 16. The Executive Directors approved a grant from the Global Environment Facility Trust Fund to the Fundacion Fondo De Apoyo A La Biodiversidad Y Las Areas Protegidas (FUNBAP) for the Colombian National Protected Areas Conservation Trust Fund Project in the amount of US$15 million on the terms and conditions set out in the President's Memorandum (GEF/R2006-0007, dated March 13, 2006). Loan to Guatemala ­ Project to Support the Rural Economic Development Program 17. The Executive Directors approved a loan to the Republic of Guatemala for the Project to Support the Rural Economic Development Program in the amount of US$30 million on the payment terms and terms and conditions set out in the President's Memorandum (R2006-0036, dated March 9, 2006). Grant from the GEF Trust Fund and Loan to Mexico ­ Environmental Services Project 18. The Executive Directors approved a grant from the Global Environment Facility Trust Fund along with a loan to the United Mexican States for the Environmental Services Project in the amounts of US$15 million and US$45 million, respectively, on the payment terms and other terms and conditions set out in the President's Memorandum (R2006-0038[GEF/R2006-0004]; /2, dated March 9, 2006). Additional Financing (Loan) to Pakistan ­ Highways Rehabilitation Project 19. The Executive Directors approved the additional financing (loan) to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for the Highways Rehabilitation Project (original loan approved December 23, 2003) in the amount of US$65 million on the payment terms and other terms and conditions set out in the President's Memorandum (R2006-0037, dated March 9, 2006). The Executive Directors recorded their approval on March 21, 2006 of the recommendation contained in paragraph 2 of the Memorandum of the President entitled "Jamaica ­ Reform of Secondary Education II Project ­ Amendment to Loan" (R2006-0039, dated March 9, 2006). Committee on Development Effectiveness ­ Nomination of Successor to Mr. Ad Melkert 21. The Executive Directors recorded their approval on March 22, 2006 of the appointment of Mr. Jan Willem van der Kaaij to serve the remainder of the term of office of Mr. Ad Melkert (R2006-0042, dated March 13, 2006). Peru ­ National Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project ­ Amendments and Restatement of Loan Agreement 22. The Executive Directors recorded their approval on March 23, 2006 of the recommendation contained in paragraph 2 of the Memorandum of the President entitled "Peru ­ National Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project ­ Amendments and Restatement of Loan Agreement" (R2006-0035, dated March 13, 2006). Task Force on Bank/Fund Collaboration 23. Mr. Wolfowitz briefed the Executive Directors on a task force that was being established by the Bank and the Fund on collaboration between the two institutions. Date of Next Meeting 24. It was agreed to hold a meeting of the Executive Directors of the Bank and IDA on Thursday, March 30, 2006. Adjournment 25.
