               May 16, 1974                                           the Niamey airport
                                                                      project in Niger.


                            The International Development Association, an affiliate

               of the World Bank, has approved a $5.0 million credit to the Republic

               of Niger to help finance the improvement of Niamey airport, so as·to

               enable large, modern, long range aircraft to operate safely and

               economically from Niamey.

                            The credit is made to the Republic of Niger which will

               make the proceeds available to the Agence pour la Securite de la



•              Navigation Aerienne (ASECNA) responsible for the carrying out of

               the project.

                            The IDA credit is for a term of 50 years, including 10

               y~ars of grace period.     It will not bear interest; however, a

               commission charge of 3/4     or 1% will be paid by the borrower to

               cover the IDA's administrative expenses.

                            All goods and services financed through the proceeds

               of the credit will be procured under international competitive

               bidding~

                            The project is expected to be completed by December

               31, 1976 .

                                    Agence pour la Securite de la Navigation
                                    en Afrique et Madagascar (ASECNA).
                                    Niamey, NIGER

                           - strengthening and lengthening of runway from
                                                                                  •
                             2,570 m to 2,770 m; strengthening of taxiway;
                             widening and strengthening of apron; addition
                             of one parking position; provision of blast
                             protection on shoulders;
                           - replacement and relocation of Instrument Landing
                             System (ILS) and provision of new equipment
                             therefor; provision of high-intensity runway
                             lighting equipment and approach lighting system;
                             provision of me~eorological equipment; and
                           - consultants' services for procurement and
                                                        I
                             construction supervision.
PROCUREMENT:        All goods and services will be procured under international
                    competitive 'bidding

.CONSULTANTS, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE:       ASECNA will be entrusted with the
                                          supervision of the construction and
                                          inspection of the installations.
