The International Development Association, an affiliate of the World Bank, has approved a $5.0 million credit to the Republic of Niger to help finance the improvement of Niamey airport, so as·to enable large, modern, long range aircraft to operate safely and economically from Niamey. The credit is made to the Republic of Niger which will make the proceeds available to the Agence pour la Securite de la • Navigation Aerienne (ASECNA) responsible for the carrying out of the project. The IDA credit is for a term of 50 years, including 10 y~ars of grace period. It will not bear interest; however, a commission charge of 3/4 or 1% will be paid by the borrower to cover the IDA's administrative expenses.
