The loan will be declared effective after World Bank receives the Legal Opinion and Effectiveness Letters from the Government of Punjab and the Government of India. The Design-Build-Operate contract for canal-based bulk water supply infrastructure in Amritsar was signed on April 29, 2021, and design surveys are currently underway. Land acquisition for Ludhiana’s water supply infrastructure is expected to complete soon after which the bid process will be launched.
