The project is expected to close on December 31, 2021. In the past year, the Project has been implemented in a Moderately Satisfactorily (MS) manner and all other ratings are also at MS. Component 1: The modernization for the Science Learning program is currently being evaluated for the 1st and 2nd grades of the Scientific Secondary program by an international consultant. A delay was observed due to school closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic but is set to be completed in June 2021. The digitization of all learning at home videos for the final classes of Basic education have been produced and posted on the PEQPESU youtube channel. In terms of infrastructure activities--the rehabilitation of the 28 laboratories are all completed and equipment for all establishments have been delivered and the installation being completed. The innovative Intelligent Math Learning Experience Assessment System, Math Whizz was completed in 20 schools of the 6 PEQPSU provinces in early February 2021. The project focused on 10,000 students from grade 7 and 8 and their teachers. The report showed a 3.3 year in knowledge deficit for teachers while students are at an average of 0.78 years between year 6 and 7 and 0. 23 years between year 7 and 8 in knowledge deficit. Specific recommendations were made in the report in order to address these deficits among teachers and students. Component 2: This component, scaled down during restructuring, has been progressing satisfactorily. The evaluation of the development of new management/operations model for TVET high schools is currently being done in the 3 remaining School Development Programs (SDPs), and the 6 extended other schools. All the small equipment for the 15 SDPs were all received. During the 2020 school year, with COVID-19, the new curricula was digitized in order to allow teachers and students to follow training at home was conducted in order to upgrade teachers and management members in this new teaching approach in July 2020. It is likely that this activity will continue after project closing. In the higher education subcomponent, the normative framework of the LMD system has been validated and is currently being applied. For the Performance Based contracts (PBCs), 56 new programs were developed and validated. They are currently being applied in the 8 remaining PBCs. In terms of rehabilitation, the work was completed in 2 ISPT (Kinshasa and Likasi). The contract for the acquisition of equipment for laboratories and workstations has been signed and will be completed by September 2021. Component 3 continues to be implemented satisfactorily.
