The demobilization and reinsertion components of the project are progressing well. From January 1, 2009 to August 31, 2013, a total of 7,840 ex- combatants have been demobilized, including 3,910 from RDF and 3,930 from Armed Groups. Reintegration. Economic and social reintegration activities are progressing well. From January 1, 2009, to August 31, 2013, a total of 7,895 reintegration grants have been provided to Public Disclosure Copy ex-combatants, including to 125 ex-combatants demobilized under the previous project. Support to vulnerable groups. The project continues to provide quality and tailored support to children formerly associated with fighting forces and female and disabled ex- combatants. From January 1, 2009 to August 31, 2013, a total of 229 children have been admitted at the children rehabilitation Center, including 35 children who are currentlyn the children rehabilitation center receiving rehabilitation support as of August 31, 2013. The project continues to provide specialized support to disabled and chronically ill ex-combatants. The RDRC continues to implement gender sensitization activities and consolidated its partnerships with the Rwandan Men’s Resource Center (RWAMREC) and the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF). The project continues to provide Vulnerability Support Window (VSW) grants (in the form of access to training) to vulnerable ex- combatants. As of August 31, 2013, a total of 3,795 ex-combatants received full VSW support, and an additional 871 were in the process of receiving VSW support. Mainstreaming. The project continues to mainstreaming activities, in particular through implementation of joint activities with relevant Ministries or Government agencies for : (i) support to cooperatives, (ii) reconciliation activities, (iii) support to children, and (iv) psychosocial support. In light of the Government's position that all Armed Groups membersand their dependents may return to Rwanda to receive support to facilitate their long-term peaceful reintegration into civilian society (except of any accused of genocide crimes), as well as the remaining balance of US$2.3 million in the co-financing MDTF (TF097476-RW), the Government of Rwanda requested Additional Financing for the project for US$2.3 million as well as an extension of the current project closing date from December 31, 2013 until June 30, 2014.
