HPET Financing Agreement has been signed on July 17. Project effectiveness is scheduled for October 16 at the latest. The Minister of Health has signed a Decision establishing the
Quality Assurance Council responsible for developing the accreditation system for health professional education institutions and the national examination system. Another Ministerial
Decision has appointed the Director and Deputy Directors of the Central Project Management Unit (CPMU). The next steps required to expedite project implementation are the

recruitment of CPMU staff to perform financial management, procurement, planning and monitoring and evaluation functions, and the refinement of the Project Operations Manual
including specific guidelines for activities under Component 1 (Improve the Quality of Health Professionals Education), Component 2 (Strengthen Management Competencies in the
Health Sector) and Component 3 (Improve Competencies of Primary Health Care Teams at the Grass-roots Level) of the project.
