On Lot 1 the Bank has provided no objection to an extension to the defect liability period to ensure outstanding defects are repaired in the spring of 2013 in order to secure the overall good quality of the road. On Lot 2 additional river protection works, for which an amendment to the contract was signed early in September 2012, have only just started and the Liakhvi Bridge completion will be done after an independent Category 3 Bridge Design Check in accordance with European Standards. Completion of Lot 3 works is expected by the end of December 2012, with the Page 1 of 5 The World Bank Report No: ISR8840 exception of a small part of backfilling works may take longer due to weather conditions. The Development objectives, which are essentially linked to the road construction, are likely to be met. In regards to the progress of the Ruisi to Agara bypass financed under TEWHIP AF, works have started and there has been good implementation progress made since the last ISR, Public Disclosure Copy despite a minor delay due to archaeological finds. The RD is carrying out expropriation works in remaining areas and is expected to finish by end of December 2012 for 10 km and March 2013 for the outstanding part, however, the expropriation is not delaying current activities.
