Mauritania Sustainable Landscape Management Project under the SAWAP (P144183)
The Mauritania Sustainable Landscape Management Project is one of eleven investments under the GEF/World Bank Sahel and West Africa
Program in Support of the Great Green Wall Initiative (SAWAP). The Project became effective on December 17, 201, and the Project Management
Unit has since then taken several actions to get the project on an implementation path, including: (i) recruitment of key support staff, (ii)
designation of a communication and gender officer to manage activities related to communications and stakeholder sensitization; and (iii)
preparation of a 5 year workplan, a detailed YR1 workplan and a procurement plan.
A national launching workshop is planned for May 26 and 27, 2016, in Nouakchott. Three regional workshops, in Trarza, Brakna and Gorgol will
also be organized before mid-July, 2016.
