 Implementation Status and Key Decisions

  The Project was formally launched on March 9, 2021. The Ministry of Education (MoE) has filled nearly all positions in the Project Implementation
  Unit (PIU). The Bank continues to provide technical assistance activities to MoE to support Project implementation, including in the areas of
  statistical capacity, human resource system strengthening, infrastructure standards and designs, preschool quality standards, and mapping of
  actors in the early childhood system. In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and other needs arising from Hurricanes Eta and Iota, MoE
  and the Bank have agreed to adjust the Project budget and procurement plan, within the existing scope of the Project and without a formal
  restructuring, to support: (1) the reproduction and distribution of learning materials for preschool students; (2) the design of professional

  development modules for preschool teachers and educators, along with a strategy to be implemented remotely during the pandemic-induced school

  (4) the purchase of electronic devices for preschool teachers and educators; and (5) the rehabilitation of preschool centers affected by Hurricanes
  Eta and Iota, based on specific targeting criteria.

                                      certification of preschool teachers and Educators in that Program. The indicator also tracks progress in
                                      the improvement of certified teachers and Educators in their customized professional development plans
                                      following certification. Certification means that they have successfully completed all of the requirements of
                                      the In-service Teacher and Educator Training Program focused on pedagogical practices and core
                                      curricular content. A customized professional development plan will be developed jointly between the
