Implementation Status and Key Decisions
The progress towards achieving the Project Development Objective (PDO) has been satisfactory. A project restructuring was approved by the Bank
to (1) extend the project closing date from December 31, 2020 to June 30, 2021, and (2) add a new project implementation unit, namely Longquan
Rural Water Affairs Co., ltd to look after master planning, construction management and operation of rural water supply and sanitation schemes in
Longquan City. A total of 139 rural sewerage treatment schemes were built and put into operation. The project has already started to provide
improved wastewater collection and treatment services to the residents of the participating small towns and villages.

The previous figure of "2,937" for total BOD load reduction and "2,675" for Fuyang WWTP in the last ISR
have some errors. In this ISR, the current figure of "1,475" for total and "1362" for Fuyang WWTP in this
ISR have corrected these errors, as outlined in the restructuring paper.
In this ISR, total BOD load reduction as of June 30, 2020 is 1,475t. Target for 2020 (as of December 31,
2020) is 2,777t. The breakdown of half-year result and target for 2020 are: Fuyang 1362 and 2500, Anren
7 and 8, Meixi 106 and 250.
The load reduction for Badu, Xiaomei, Chatian and Lanju WWTPs are still zero as of June 30, 2020. Their
sewer networks are being completed and commissioning are planed for the second half of 2020. Their

BOD load reduction targets are expected to be achieved in the next ISR and/or ICR.
The BOD load reduction for Meixi WWTP in this ISR is lower than the last ISR. This is because Meixi
WWTP receives industrial wastewater as well as domestic sewerage. The business of industries were
affected by Covid-19 over the first half of 2020, but is expected to be resumed over the second half of the
year so that the volume of influent BOD load is expected to be resumed and, consequently, the reduction
of BOD load in the next ISR and/or ICR is expected to be increased.
