While teacher training activities have faced interruptions given the inability to carry them out in person, training was still provided in a virtual format and the Project has sought ways to help teachers adapt to the needs of the context, including by providing training on new virtual teaching/learning tools. Approximately 166,000 teachers were trained in 2020, specifically on the use of virtual tools and health and safety protocols. Activities to provide both digital and physical copies of books for preschool, primary and secondary have continued, as well as minor works to provide access to safe water and adequate hygiene conditions for school reopening. Infrastructure works under the Project have also made progress, with 189 schools remodeled and 139 civil works on track for completion by October 2021. The Projects results framework, presented in detail in the Results section, has been updated with preliminary data corresponding to the Relevamiento Anual (RA) 2020. Data reporting for the RA is approximately 95 percent complete, and the final values for Project indicators are expected to be available by August 2021. 6/16/2021 Page 1 of 8 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Argentina Second Rural Education Improvement Project - PROMER-II (P133195)  While PDO Indicator 1 “Average repetition rate in primary schools in rural areas” improved from 4.5% in 2019 to 4.0% in 2020, moving closer to the final target of 3.5%. During the life of the Project, repetition rates have overall worsened at the national level, but it is important to note that rural schools have fared better overall than urban schools.  PDO Indicator 2 “Number of students entering the first year of secondary school in rural areas as a proportion of students who finished primary school in rural areas” worsened from 2019 to 2020, from 79.2% to 76%, but not all data from the RA 2020 has been uploaded for this indicator yet to adequately assess its achievement against the end target of 80%.  Preliminary data for PDO Indicator 3 “Number of students in rural areas enrolled in 10th grade as a proportion of students that completed 9th grade in rural areas” show a value of 94.7%, a decrease from the 2019 value of 95.3%, but not all data has not been uploaded for this indicator in the RA to assess its achievement against the end target of 96%.  PDO Indicator 4 “Proportion of the total number of students enrolled in the 1st grade of upper secondary completing the last year of upper secondary education(12th grade) in rural areas, including students that repeat” improved from 66.3% in 2019 to 67.8%, largely achieving the end target of 68%.
